This is the official
website of STOPKIG.org, the umbrella
organization formed by the community for
the community to fight K.I.G.
KIG was a proposal to obliterate a
massive area of green space in mid Kent
with a four million square feet
industrial estate. |

KIG Defeated! |
|
| |
|
STOPKIG
are
absolutely
delighted
to hear
that the
Secretary
of State
has
refused
the
Appeal
by AXA
to build
KIG. The
Planning
Inspector’s
report
recommended
refusal
on
various
grounds,
and the
refusal
letter
is
printed
below,
along
with the
refusal
to close
or
divert
the
affected
footpaths.

Our
celebration
‘Street
Party’
style
celebration,
held on
Bearsted
Green on
18th
September
2010,
was a
wonderful
event.
Over
1000
people
joined
us in
the
sunshine
to
celebrate
our
success.
A giant
cake, in
the form
of three
giant
letters
‘K I G’
was cut
and
shared
out
amongst
the
crowd of
supporters,
to
symbolise
us
finally
‘putting
the
knife’
into KIG

STOPKIG
are very
proud to
have
been
awarded
a Pride
of
Maidstone
award by
Maidstone
Borough
Council
in
conjunction
with the
Kent
Messenger
newspaper,
and also
an
Alfred
Mynn
award by
Bearsted
Parish
Council
to
acknowledge
our
efforts
in
fighting
off the
KIG
proposal.
These
awards
were
accepted
by
STOPKIG
on
behalf
of the
community
who
supported
us,
without
whose
efforts
we could
not have
achieved
such a
resounding
success. |
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
A
tremendous
community
effort. |
|
| |
|
STOPKIG
have
worked
hard to
get this
outcome,
but we
could
not have
done it
without
the
tremendous
support
that we
have had
from
you, our
supporters.
So
STOPKIG
would
like to
say a
big
THANK
YOU to
all
those
who have
helped
and
supported
us
throughout
this
campaign.
– it has
been a
real
community
effort. |
